Abstract: Based on the different structural parameters of EPDM, the effects of the microstructure such as Mooney viscosity, the third monomer ENB content and vinyl content on the mechanical properties, thermal properties and the vulcanization properties were investigated. The results show that with the increasing of the viscosity, the mechanical properties, thermal stability and vulcanization rate of EPDM are increased, but the tear strength is firstly increased and then decreased. With the increasing of vinyl content, the tensile strength and tear strength of EPDM are increased firstly and then decreased. The hardness, thermal stability and the vulcanization rate are increased. With the increasing of ENB content, the tensile strength the vulcanization rate and the hardness are increased, and the tear strength, the elongation at break and the thermal stability are decreased. When EP35 and EP75F are mixed with mass ratio at 3∶7, EPDM has good properties. The tensile strength is 23.69 MPa, the elongation at break is 886.41%, the hardness is 75.30 MPa and the tear strength is 43.55 kN/m.
