Guidelines for Author

1. Publication Scope

China Powder Science and Technology primarily publishes research papers in the field of powder technology (Chinese Library Classification No. TB44). The journal focuses on fundamental and applied research in powder processing, including crushing, classification, mixing, modification, granulation, drying, sintering, fluidization, atomization, aerosols, transportation, storage, as well as dust explosions and powder properties. It covers various powder-related fields such as building materials, chemical engineering, petroleum, environmental protection, meteorology, national defense, metallurgy, coal, food, medicine, textiles, electromechanics, geology, agriculture, etc.

The main columns of the journal include Powder Processing, Particle Preparation, Particle Testing and Characterization, Aerosols, Fluidization, Dust Explosions, Engineering Technology, etc.

2. Types of Manuscripts

1) Research Papers: These papers are based on experiments and should include specific research backgrounds, methods, results, discussions, conclusions, etc. The research should be independent, systematic, innovative, and contribute to the industry. The minimum reference count should be 20.

2) Review Papers: These papers should focus on a specific topic, starting from the research background, and systematically review recent related studies in the same field both domestically and internationally. The literature coverage should be extensive, complete, and representative. The papers should highlight the significance of the research and analyze the industry contribution and future prospects. The minimum reference count should be 50.

3) Research Newsletters: These articles should provide a concise and complete description of the research, including the research background, significance, methods, results, and conclusions. They should generally not exceed 2,500 words and may include appropriate figures, tables, and references.

3. Submission Requirements

1) Manuscripts must be original and not published or partially published at home or abroad. Multiple submissions are not allowed. Authors are responsible for the authenticity and confidentiality of their manuscripts.

2) Authors need to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement provided by the journal, transferring the copyright of their articles (including but not limited to the rights of compilation, translation, reproduction in printed and electronic formats, online dissemination, and distribution) to the editorial department of China Powder Science and Technology. The copyright transfer fee is included in the remuneration paid to the authors by the editorial department, and no additional payment will be made to the authors.

3) Authors should submit their manuscripts and track their progress through the journal's online submission system. The journal does not accept submissions via intermediate agency or email.

4) Generally, manuscripts are required to have funding projects at or above the national or provincial level.

5) Before submitting, authors should download the latest manuscript template from our website and prepare the manuscript strictly according to the template. The manuscript should be saved in .doc or .docx format.

4. Submission Process

1) Visit our online submission system, or journal website, which link to the submission system. First-time authors need to register an account. Start the submission process by clicking on the guided submission link. Fields marked with an "*" are mandatory.

2) Confirm that you have read the "Guidelines for Authors" and agree to the Copyright Transfer Agreement. Fill in the funding project information; upload the full text of the manuscript, along with attachments such as funding project certificates and the Copyright Transfer Agreement signed by all authors.

3) Fill in the basic information of the manuscript, recommend peer reviewers, author information, column submitted for, number of pages, contact address, invoice title and taxpayer identification number, mobile phone number, additional message, and then confirm the submission.

4) The email address of the corresponding author provided during submission is the sole email for communication between the editorial department and the authors. Please make sure your email is working properly.

5) Authors should recommend at least two peer reviewers, with no maximum limit. These recommendations will be considered by the editorial department, but they may not be the final reviewers.

6) In the author information section, provide comprehensive details for all authors listed in the manuscript.

5. Publication Process

1) Manuscript Submission: After successful submission of the manuscript, the author will receive a notification confirming the submission completion.

2) Initial Review: The submitted manuscript will be automatically assigned a number and then undergo an initial review process. Executive editors will check if the manuscript aligns with the scope of the journal and meets the formatting requirements. This review process also includes a plagiarism check. The initial review process takes 2~3 working days, and the results will be sent to the author via email. The review decision could be: acceptance, revision required, or rejection.

3) Peer Review: Manuscripts pass the initial review will proceed to a double-blind peer review process conducted by two experts in the field. If there are conflicting opinions between the two reviewers, additional experts will be consulted. The peer review process takes approximately 2~3 weeks. Based on the review comments provided by the experts, executive editors will make a decision, which is either acceptance, revision required, or rejection.

4) Editing: Manuscripts passing the peer review process enter the editing process, which requires the author's active participation.

5) Final Review: Edited manuscripts are sent to the Editor-in-Chief for a final review. Then the manuscript will be sent for typesetting and proofreading.

6) Proofreading: The proofreading phase includes three rounds of checking, with the second round involving external reviewers and the third round involving the author's confirmation.

7) Digital Publication: After completing the above steps, the manuscript will be published on the journal's official website and gradually be indexed in various databases. Authors can view, download, and cite the published article through the journal's official website (http://ftjs.ujn.edu.cn).

8) Printing and Distribution of Print Journal: Approximately half a month after the publication of an issue, the editorial department mails the printed copies to the institutions of the first or corresponding authors.

9) Special Notes:

§ Review Process for Special Issue Manuscripts: The same review and editing process described above applies to all manuscripts submitted for special issues. Special issue submissions undergo the same review process as regular articles and are subject to the final decision of the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief has full responsibility for the content of the entire journal, including special issues.

§ Submissions by Editorial Board members, editors and Guest Editors: These submissions must follow the same review and editing processes as other submissions. The review process for these manuscripts is conducted independently by relevant Editorial Board members/editors/Guest Editors and their research groups. Additionally, they should not participate in the review of a manuscript if they have competing, collaborative, or other conflicts of interest with the author(s).

6. Appeals & Feedback

If authors disagree with the review comments or decisions regarding their manuscript, they can submit a written appeal to the editorial department via email. Authors should provide detailed explanations and justifications for each review comment. The editorial department will promptly review the appeal and provide feedback to the author. Please note that typically, only one appeal per manuscript is accepted.

For any comments, feedback, or concerns regarding our published articles, the journal's review process, or publication ethics requirements, authors and readers can send their comments to the journal's email address. The editorial department will handle such communications promptly and provide appropriate feedback.

7. Corrections and Retractions

We generally do not accept requests for corrections or retractions of published articles. However, the following circumstances may warrant corrections or retractions:

1) Corrections: In the case of unintentional scientific errors discovered in published articles that do not significantly affect the results and conclusions, the editorial department will publish a correction notice in the journal. The notice will explain the changes made to the original article. The updated version of the article will be published, specifying the modifications and the date of the update. When citing the article, the latest version should be used.

2) Retractions: The journal may retract published articles under the following circumstances: ① When a published article is found to contain serious scientific errors that render the results and conclusions unreliable; ② In cases involving suspected academic misconduct, the editorial department will initiate an investigation and issue a statement informing readers of the potential risks associated with the article. The investigation results will be made public. If academic misconduct is confirmed, the editorial department will retract the article and publish a retraction statement.

8. Article Processing Charges

The journal aims to establish itself as a leading scientific and technological journal, serving as a platform for communication in the powder industry. The main sources of the income of the journal include the funds provided by the University of Jinan and the Article Processing Charges (APCs) from authors. To support open-access publishing, an APC is required to be paid by authors, their institution, or funding projects. The fee is set at CNY 200 per page.

In addition, the editorial department will send the author a printed copy of the issue upon publication, and provide a remuneration to the author based on the effectiveness of the article's dissemination.

9. Other Information

1) The editorial department shall notify the authors of the peer review comments and acceptance status via email within 14~21 working days after receiving the manuscript. If an author does not receive any notification from the editorial department after 30 days of submission, they may proceed with alternative arrangements for their manuscript. However, prior notification to the editorial department is required to avoid multiple submissions. If a manuscript is not accepted by the journal, the original manuscript will not be returned to the author. Please keep a copy of your original manuscript as a backup.

2) All articles published in the journal are reviewed by peer experts. Therefore, the review period cannot be less than 2 weeks. Manuscripts that have not been reviewed cannot be published.

3) The editorial department has the right to make textual modifications and deletions to submitted manuscripts. When authors are requested to revise their manuscripts, they should address each peer review comment with specific modifications or provide reasons for not making changes. The revised manuscript along with a detailed explanation of the modifications should be promptly returned to the editorial department. If the revised manuscript is not submitted by the specified deadline, the editorial department will automatically consider the manuscript withdrawn.
