Abstract: The potash feldspar was pressed by mechanical activating equipment and added usages of Ca(OH)2 for exploring the mechanism of improving potassium availability by contrasts of CaCl2,CaSO4. The water-soluble and available potassium of samples were analyzed as evaluating indexes to the activity. The laser particle size analyzer (LPSA), X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XPS) and scanning electronic microscope (SEM) were used to characterize particle size distribution, elements, morphology, aggregate and scattering. The results show that the water soluble potassium of potash feldspar grows with the time of mechanical activation and increases remarkable by adding Ca(OH)2 or CaCl2, while else CaSO4 slowly. The available potassium of potash feldspar grows with the time of mechanical activation, too, but it does not increase by adding Ca(OH)2, CaCl2 and CaSO4. The mechanical pressings adding Ca(OH)2, CaCl2 and CaSO4 make potash feldspar emerge different variation character-istics on particle size distribution at normal atmospheric temperature. The growth trends of water-soluble and available potassium are incompatible with those of particle distribution descends and relate to the pressing time.
