Abstract: Pure phase nano-LaAlO3 was prepared by microwave induced combustion method with aluminum nitrate, lanthanum nitrate as oxidant and glycine as reducing agent. A new process for preparing lanthanum aluminate was developed. The properties and structure of the sample were systematically studied by SEM and XRD. The results show that the optimum conditions for LaAlO3 preparation are: the optimum quantity ratio of lanthanum nitrate, aluminum nitrate and glycine is 3∶3∶10, and the initial product of lanthanum aluminate powder is obtained by heating the microwave power at 800 W for 5 min, and then the pure phase aluminate powder can be obtained by injecting the initial product in a muffle furnace at 700 ℃ for 4 h. The LaAlO3 powder prepared by the microwave induced combustion method has the advantages of high crystallinity, uniform particle distribution and average particle size is less than 50 nm.
