Preparation of inhalation drug delivery microparticles by supercritical antisovent process

Abstract: In this paper,the more uniform and smaller pentoxyverine citrate powder was prepared by an experimental apparatus for supercritical antisolvent process,and the effects of process parameters including pressure,temperature,flow rate and solvent,on the morphology,the particle size and particle size distributions were investigated experimentally. The results show that the morphology of microparticles prepared is all plate. The process parameters have different effects on the particle size and particle size distribution,the pentoxyverine citrate microparticles with the geometric particle size of 0.5~12 μm and the aerodynamic particle size of 1.2 μm can be obtained by adjusting process parameters,and the prepared micropaticles are suitable for inhalation delivery system.
