Abstract: LaBO3 powder with orthorhombic crystal system was synthesized with La(NO3)3, H3BO3 and C2H5NO2 at the mole ratio of 3∶3∶5 by solution combustion method. La(NO3) and H3BO3 were used as the oxidizing agent,and C2H5NO2 was used as the reducing agent. The influence of calcination temperatures and time conditions on the product were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fluorescence. The results show that it is optimal to synthesize the LaBO3 powder with a good particle dispersion and particle size distribution at 750 ℃ for 4 h. The values of lattice parameters are α-LaBO3a=0.510 33 nm, b=0.825 08 nm, and c=0.586 74 nm. Thus LaBO3 powder can be used as substrate materials in the preparation of luminescent powder.
