Abstract: This paper studied the effect of mechanical force on the particle size and activity of gold tailings based on the mechanical force activation method and theory, the morphology and phase analysis of which were conducted with SEM and XRD respectively. The result shows that the gold tailings chosen are relatively easy to grind and the particle distribution is greatly affected by mechanical force with the minimum particle size of 5 μm in an activation time of 80 min; its activation property increases with the rise of the acting time, reaching its maximum at 80 min of action; the data of 28 d compressive strength and activity index of the test block mortar reach their peak of 35.33 MPa and 78.62% respectively at 80 min of action, then decrease with the occurrence of weak agglomeration.
