Abstract: Thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry with equivalent characteristic spectrum analysis (TG-MS&ECSA) was used to study the mechanism of oxidation reaction of CaS and solid-solid reaction between CaS and CaSO4. The temperature ranges of the main reactions were clearly defined by comparing the relationship between the molar flows of the evolved gases during the process. The results show that the reaction of CaS with O2 to form CaSO4 begins at 617 ℃. The reaction between CaS and O2 to form CaO and SO2 begins at 997 ℃. And the reaction between CaS and CaSO4 to form CaO and SO2 begins at 825 ℃.
