Abstract: Discrete element method (DEM) was used to simulate their motion characteristics of cylindrical and spherical particles on the surface of conical distributor which was slotted before and after. Velocity and trajectory of the particles on the surface of conical distributor were studied. The effects of particle shape, diameter and rotational speed of the distributor being slotted before and after on the motion were studied. The results show that horizontal and vertical velocity of particles out of the distributor increase with the increase of rotating speed and diameter of the distributor. Horizontal and vertical velocity of the cylindrical particle is slightly faster than that of the spherical particle. Rate of the through-slot particle decreases with the increase of the rotational speed of the distributor and increases with the increase of diameter of the distributor. Besides, rate of the cylindrical through-slot particle is higher than that of the spherical particle. Horizontal and vertical velocity of particle out of the slotted distributor is higher than those of none-slotted one.
