Preparation and characterization of polyacrylate conductive coatings

Abstract: Electrical conducting carbon black was prepared by the plasma technology with two sets of electrodes. The carbon black(CB) was surface modified by the treatment of HNO3 and H2SO4. A conductive coatings was prepared by suspension blending using carbon black as the conductive filler and polyacrylate (PA) as the film forming matter. The effect of carbon black content, titanium coupling agent, nano silica and milling time on the electrical conductivity of PA-CB coatings were studied. The PA-CB coatings with goodconductivity could be prepared with CB 1.2% titanium coupling agent 3%, nano silica 0.6% and milling time 4 h. An interesting result shows that the rheological threshold is close to the electrical percolation.
