Abstract:A new type secondary wind, located at the top of inlet and under the roof of the separator, was proposed, and the effect of the secondary wind on the separation performance of PV cyclone separator was analyzed experimentally and numerically. The results show that the simulation results agree well with the experimental data and prove that the model is reliable. With secondary wind, the tangential velocity increases, the upward axial velocity and radial velocity decreases. The secondary wind can restrain the formation of top particle ring and reduce the possibility of conveying particles to vortex finder through the short circuit flow, which is beneficial to the separation of fine particles. The cyclone separator with secondary wind still retains high separation efficiency under the condition of greater gas flow rate.In addition, the separator with secondary wind can achieve higher efficiency and lower pressure drop than PV type, with the maximum efficiency increase by 2% and the maximum pressure drop decrease by 16.8%. The new structure of secondary wind may provide a new design idea for the application of industrial high-efficiency and low-resistance cyclone separators.
