Abstract:Calcium sulfate whiskers were modified with gas floating modification technology to their surface modification and a new agent DZY-6 synthesized in laboratory was chosen as the modifier. Gas floating modification effect was evaluated by the yield, activation index, contact angle and microscopic image of the modified foam products. The feasibility of gas floating modification process was analyzed. The results show that the new modifier modifies calcium sulfate whiskers at room temperature.The modified products with the yield of 98.36%, contact angle of115.00° and activation index of 99.5% were got under optimum conditions. The gas floating modification process has a tendency of spontaneity. Calcium sulfate whiskers have the good morphology within the suitable scope of the stirring speed, ensuring the whisker original length-diameter ratio. The modification process of calcium sulfate whiskers in the ordinary tap water and the separation of modified products timely are achieved, which simplifies the filtration and drying operations and saves the agent and time.
