Abstract:To research the effect of structure of a horizontal turbo classifier on its classification performance, deflectors were equipped at different positions of the classifier. The separation of fluidized catalytic cracking catalysts by the classifier with different air volume rates and wheel speeds was investigated. Effect of the deflectors on coarse yield, fine powders content in coarse powders and classification accuracy was analyzed. The results show that comparing with the classifier equipped with a downstream deflector and no deflector, the coarse yield increases by 5% to 6% when the classifier is equipped with an upstream deflector. The classification accuracy is promoted obviously and the gas consumption is decreased by about 50%. Equipping with an upstream deflector can improve the classification performance of the horizontal turbo classifiers effectively.
