Abstract:The classification flow field of FTW-350 turbo air classifier was numerically simulated by the computational fluid dynamics software of Fluent. According to the simulation results, the distributions of dynamic pressure of flow field in the classifier, turbulent kinetic energy, and flow velocity field were compared at different wheel speeds. Experiments were conducted to research the effect of classifier wheel speeds in the turbo air classifier on particle size distribution, in which three different feeding rates were tested for each classifier wheel speed. The cumulative particle size, average particle size, cumulative volume distribution and particle size frequency distribution of the classification products tested by the laser particle size analyzer were contrastively analyzed. The results show that the increase of speed is conducive to the stability of the classification flow field, and the particle size distribution can be improved by increasing classifier wheel speeds at small values. The effect of the change of classifier wheel speed on the particle size distribution constantly reduced with the increase of feeding rate.
