Construction and Application of Grain Composition Model for Spherical Silica Powders

Abstract:To improve the filling extreme and flowability of the organic-inorganic hybrid composites, a composition ratio computational model was constructed by MATLAB optimized tool kit based on classical Dinger-Funk theory of particle packing. The inorganic filler volume ratio satisfying the densest packing was obtained. The spherical silica powders with different diameter distributions were blended with epoxy resin according to a certain composition ratio. Tests of hot pressing-resin exudation, tap density, melt viscosity were carried out on different hybrid systems to investigate the filling compactness and colloid flow of powders. The results show that the composition system calculated by the model has the minimal melt viscosity,the maximal flow diameter and the moderate tap density, which effectively contributes to the accuracyof the constructed model.
