Separation performance of a multi-product hydrocyclone

Abstract:In order to solve the problem that only two kinds of products with wide particle size can be obtained by the traditional cyclone classification, and it is difficult to meet the requirement of the subsequent equipment, a new type of multi-product hydrocyclone was presented, by which four kinds of narrow size range products were obtained after the classification once. Then the experimental study was carried out to explore the influence of the structural parameters on the separation performance. The results show that, the content of fine particles lower than 10 μm in the feed slurry and the contents of four kinds of narrow size range products obtained after the classification once are 6.22%,62.83%, 2%, 46.54%, 35.25%, respectively. With the increase of the underflow orifice diameter, for the first section underflow,the mass fraction decreases 12.48% and the yield increases2.68%, and its granularity become fine. At the same time, the yield of the inner overflow decreases 1.48%. The experimental data also indicates that, the insertion depth of the inner overflow tube affects the separation performance directly. When the internal and external overflow pipe are inserted into the same depth, the mass fraction and yield of the inner overflow reach their maximum value of 0.4% and 1.89% respectively.
