Characteristic of Inconel625 alloy powders used in selective laser melting

Abstract:In order to summarize the characteristics of Inconel625 alloy powders uesd in selective laser melting, particle size distribution, particle shape characteristics, flowability and apparent density of Inconle625 alloy powders were measured by expriments. The relationship between the different characteristics of Inconel625 alloy powders were analyzed through SLM forming tests. The results show that particle size range of Inconel625 alloy powders is 20~60 μm, and average particle size is 35 μm. The particle is spherical and the average sphericity is higher than 0.7.The flowability of the powders with these characteristics is less than20 s per 50 g and its apparent density is more than 4.0 g/cm3. SLM forming's mechanical strength and elongation are greater than the minimum mechanical properties required in ASTM standard of Inconel625 alloy powders' SLM forming.
