Abstract：The situation, crystal structure and absorbing mechanism of Z-type ferrite were reviewed. The research status of Z-type ferrite, including the high preparation temperature, the difficulty of preparation pure phase and the improvement of electromagnetic performance was summarized. The researchers' working on the Z-type ferrite reduce the sintering temperature and improve magnetic properties and so on were also summarized. It was found that the researchers use one single method to enhance the Z-type ferrite, and the effect was limited. They should combine in various ways. The microstructure of Z-type ferrite can affect large to its magnetic, but the related research was few. The research priorities about aspect ratio and shaped structure was proposed, and it would be the focus of further research.
