Influence to cyclone classifier under radial airflow

Abstract:In order to improve the performance of the cyclone classifier, radial airflow was used to separate the particles once again. The experiments adopt FCC(fluid catalytic cracking)catalyst and S-Zorb catalyst as the material. Five experiments were done in different airflow velocity of radial airflow. The experimental results show that the minimum cut size of FCC catalyst is 6.5 μm and that of S-Zorb catalyst is 3.3 μm. When the cut size at 2 μm, Newton's classification efficiency of FCC catalyst is 91.9% and that of S-Zorb catalyst is 54.1%. The radial airflow destroys the formative condition of Coanda effct, which makes for the classification performance. The pressure drop between inlet and outlet is reducing when the radial airflow rate is rising. This classifier is better to eliminate the fine of FCC catalyst and the coarse of the S-zorb catalyst.
