Simulation of Transversal bed motion of directed reduced iron in rotating drum

Abstract:This paper establish the reduced iron pellets motion model by using 2D DEM for the optimum region design of atomizing nozzle in the section of a rotary drum. The current paper investigates the motion of particles and the dynamic angle of repose with different rotational speeds,filling degrees, different particles size scales and different number of lifting plate,and measure the region between particles and rotating drum according to the distribution of flat lifting plates,which provide the design reference for the optimum region design of atomizing nozzle. The results illustrate that the motion mode of particles is rolling motion in steady motion period in rotating drum. Improving the rotational speed will increase the angle of repose of particles and increasing the lifting plate and particle size will improve the motion of particles in rotating drum. However the filling degrees have little effect on the results.
