Fluidity test and silo design of ultrafine energetic solid powder

Abstract:In order to solve the poor charging in actual production of fire and explosive that caused by poor flow ability of ultrafine energetic solid powder, a powder flow tester based on Jenike shear test was used to study the flow ability of three kinds of ultrafine energetic solid powder(ammonium perchlorate, d50=4.284 μm, nitroguanidine, d50=2.150 μm,potassium nitrate, d50=4.794 μm). The corresponding mobility parameters and flow functions are obtained. Selected overall flow silo as the flow model, through the silo design formulas, obtained three kinds of ultrafine energetic solid powder feed bin maximum half angle θc are 13.13、8.64、19.20° and minimum diameter of the discharge port Dcare 0.42、0.59、0.25 m respectively. Test shows when the silo's half angle θ≤θc, outlet aperture D≥Dc, can ensure that the ultrafine energetic solid powder continuous uniform and stable feeding.
