Control of particle size and morphology in soft chemistry synthesis Gd2O3:Er3+ phosphor

Abstract:Using a non-polar solvent liquid paraffin as organic phase, the surfactants self-assembled configuration control preparation of Gd2O3:Er3+ fluorescent powder was researched, and the size of the grain diameter was comtrolled through the change of surfactant content. XRD and SEM were used to analyze the prepared powder of structure, morphology and particle. The results indicate that the samples prepared by surfactant-curing method is cubic phase with spherical shape and uniform particle size. With precipitation and sol-gel preparation by the phosphor,the sample is preparated by surfactant-curing method that size is small, narrow distribution, the average particle diameter of 48 nm. The excitation and emission peak is located at 380 nm and563 nm, compared with precipitation and sol-gel method, the sample preparated by surfactant-curing method have a stronger luminescence. The luminous intensity is four times bigger than the precipitation, is a more than 10 times of sol-gel method.
