Abstract:Payne effect was investigated in the case of precipitated silica (Z142) in polymethylvinylsiloxane (PMVS) using dissolution-swelling experiment and rheological measurements. The thermoelastic behavior of PMVS-Z142 was studied using thermoelastic measurements. The results show that the secondary structure is formed by the addition of silica. Due to the breakdown of the secondary structure, a noticeable decrease occurs in shear modulus of PMVS-Z142 at small strains, which is Payne effect. The internal energy contribution the total stress increases with increase of Z142 content. The energy is a function of temperature, that is, the mechanical behavior of PMVS-Z142 is greatly influenced by temperature.
