Abstract:To improve the added values of carbide slags, the effect of reaction temperature on the morphology of calcium carbonate nano-particles prepared from carbide slags without crystal controlling agents was investigated. The results show that the calcite nano-particles with flake and spherical morphologies can be prepared when the reaction temperatures are 3 and 8 ℃. The vaterite and aragonite nano-particles can be prepared at the reaction temperature of 10 and 80 ℃. The average sizes of the calcium carbonate nano-particles with spherical, quasi-spherical and needle morphologies are respectively 90, 70 and 80 nm.
