Particle Size and Size Distribution of Acetochlor Capsule Suspension

Abstract: The acetochlor capsule suspensions were prepared by in-situ polymerization of urea-formaldehyde resin. The effect of shear speed, core viscosity and agitation speed on particle size and size distribution was characterized by laser particle size analyzer, optical microscope and scanning electron microscope respectively. The results show that during the emulsion process, the addition of toluene with mass fraction of 6.25% can reduce the mean diameter of emulsion effectively by controlling constant shear speed. During the curing stage, the phenomenon of coalescence and rupture of microcapsules can be inhibited effectively by controlling the stirring speed at 600 r/min.
