Preparation of Rose Powders Through Ball Milling

Abstract: To obtain high quality rose powders, the vacuum freeze dryer was used to dry the fresh rose, then the twin-rolling mill was used to grind the rose. In the process of grinding, the effects of process parameters on the size of superfine rose powders were discussed, such as the speed of barrel and agitator, the mass ratio of grinding-balls to materials, the grinding time, which influence the particle size of the rose powders. As the results show, the optimum conditions used are that the barrel speed is 120 r/min, the agitator speed is 80 r/min, the mass ratio of grinding-ball to materials is 10:1, the grinding time is 120 min. The mid-size of the obtained rose powders is 6.1 μm. These powders remaine the fragrance of rose well.
