Analysis on Lateral Overpressure and Deformation Simulation During Discharging in Silo

Abstract: To acquire the influence of overcharge lateral pressure on radial deformation in silo, the discrete element method was used to stimulate the stewing and discharging of coal particles in silo. Exported data from the discrete element method simulation was loaded on the silo model to complete finite element analysis. Variation regularity of the lateral pressure and ratio during discharging were obtained by the discrete element method. Distribution of radial deformation and ratio in discharging was obtained by the finite element analysis. The results show that the tendency of radial deformation ratio is similarly identified with the lateral pressure ratio in discharging. There is a linear relation between the lateral pressure ratio and velocity of coal particles. A peak value of the lateral pressure in static and dynamic is located near straight side at transition section of the straight and the funnel. The lateral pressure ratio reaches the peak in the upper of silo. Effective measures must be taken to strengthen structure of the transition and upper of the silo.
