Abstract: To analyze the diatom mineral content of each grain size from Niger diatomite, two ways of wet screening and screening after scrape-washing were respectively used to classify the Niger diatomite. The classification effect of diatom mineral of each grain size was characterized by SEM. The diatom mineral content of each grain size was tested by the method of water-heated alkaline reaction. The results show that the wet screening cannot separate diatom minerals from quartz and clay effectively. Screening after scrape-washing is an effective way to make more than 76% of diatom minerals concentrate in grain size less than 75 μm.
