Numerical Simulation and Analysis of Pneumatic Conveying with Different Particle Sizes

Abstract: The level pipe flow characteristics experiment of sands were carried with compressed air as pumped medium in a pneumatic transmit experimental bench. Based on Euler method, a mathematical model was established, and simulations by Fluent software were conducted. The results show that the particle concentration at the bottom of horizontal pipe increases along axial direction, and decreases when close to the tail pipe. With the same gas phase conveying speed, the smaller the particle size is, the smaller the pressure drop is in the horizontal pipeline, the more uniform the particle distribution in the pipe is, and the more easy obtaining acceleration is. It is indicated by comparison that the simulation conclusion is consistent with the actual measurement results.
