Abstract: To provide a steady flow field for O-Sepa classifiers and improve classification efficiency, a kind of volute with guide vanes was designed. The renormalization group (RNG) k-ε turbulence model and discrete phase model were respectively adopted for numerical simulation of gas phase flow field as well as gas-solid two-phase flow field of O-Sepa classifier. The pressure field, velocity field, particle trajectories and classification efficiency of three kinds of volutes were compared. The results show that comparing with the traditional volute structure and the volute structure with same area wind inlet, the volute structure with guide vanes is more efficient in energy, which can provide more stable speed for classification area. The particles trajectories in the volute structure with guide vanes are smoother. The classification efficiency of fine powders is more efficient and the classification performance of the classifiers is effectively improved.
