Abstract: Based on the principle of thin-layer wicking technique, the contact angles of ground granulated blast furnace slag powders in different probe liquids and the surface energy of different particle size of ground granulated blast furnace slag powders were researched. The results show that all measurement results have good stability and repeatability. Taking methylene iodide, ethylene glycol and distilled water as probe liquids respectively, the surface energy of crude, medium and fine size ground granulated blast furnace slag powders calculated are 23.63, 32.49 and 34.59 mN/m respectively. The nonpolar surface energy components of ground granulated blast furnace slag powders increase with the decreasing of particle size while the polar surface energy components decrease with the decreasing of particle size.
