Numerical Simulation on Separation Efficiency of Filtering Hydrocyclone

Abstract: The flow fields in filtering hydrocyclone were simulated by computational fluid dynamics Fluent software and RNG k-ε model. The liquid and solid flow field in filtering hydrocyclone was obtained. The separation efficiency in the filtering hydrocyclone with different operation parameters were analyzed comparatively. The results show that with the increase of inlet flow. the liquid and solid separation efficiency enhances unceasingly. After the inlet flow reaching 3 m3 /h. the liquid and solid separation efficiency does not improve obviously. With the increase of bottom flow rate. the liquid and solid separation efficiency improves. After the underflow rate reaches 25%. the liquid and solid separation efficiency decrease greatly. With the increase of solid particle size. the liquid and solid separation efficiency enhances unceasingly.
