Abstract: In view of the huge harmfulness of respirable dusts and the difficulty to wetting, the composition of wetting agents was designed based on the mechanism that wetting agents can reduce the surface tension of water spray. An optimum mixture of wetting agents was obtained by the method of sedimentation. The rationality of composition formulation is verified by measuring the surface tension of wetting agents solution. Six kinds of coal samples were chosen and each kind was made into three kinds of respirable dust with three different concentrations. The dustfall results of the mixture of wetting agents were measured by the spray dustfall experiment station. The results show that the dustfall efficiency of the mixture of wetting agents is up to 90%. The optimum mixture of wetting agents is especially suitable for workplace with high concentration of dust.
