Flow Field Characteristic of Coalescer Disturbed Flow Area

Abstract: Using the computational fluid dynamics software, the timeaverage flow field parameters, instantaneous parameters and particle trajectories were simulated by k-ε model, large-eddy simulation model and discrete phase model. The results indicate that the turbulence cylinder has remarkable turbulent effects, which can make the trajectories of particles with different sizes cross obviously and increase the collision probability between particles. The faster the velocity is, the greater the resistance of disturbed flow area is. There is obvious vortex shedding phenomenon in the flow field. The shedding frequency of main energy vortex for each turbulence cylinder is the same. The Strouhal number is approximately 0.22.
