Abstract: The particle reserves parameter for describing gas and solid separation process of a cyclone separator which was the total particle mass existed in the internal operation space of the cyclone separator was defined according to gas and solid separation characteristics in the cyclone separator. The experiment was carried out with the fluidized catalytic cracking equilibrium catalysts to measure the relation between particle reserves in the cyclone separator and inlet velocity as well as entrance concentration. The results show that the particle reserves increase with the increasing of inlet velocity and entrance concentration. The main part of particle reserves comes from the top dust ring in the a annular space of the cyclone separator. The other part comes from the granular layer on the wall surface.
