Abstract: To study the dust particle size distribution in different production areas important for choosing filters in cigarette factories, the particle size distribution of the dust in a certain cigarette factory was measured and analyzed. The results show that the mixing area has the highest dust generation, the cutting area is the second, followed is the wrapping and packing area, and the warehouse area and other areas have the minimum generation. It is proposed that the air conditioning in mixing, cutting, wrapping and packing areas use the intermediate-high effect filter. The intermediate effect filter should be applied in warehouse area and other areas. Particles with diameters both larger an d less than 10 μm should be focused on by the filter.

Keywords: cigarette factory; air conditioning; particle size distribution; inhalable particulate matter (PM10); fine particulate matter (PM2.5)
