Abstract: A device for nano-particles production by auto-continuous wire electrical explosion was developed. A series of electrical explosion experiments were carried out with initial charging voltages of 5~9 kV. The prepared Ni nano-particles were characterized. The results show that the electrical explosion procedure can be realized automatically and continuously. Ni nano- particles prepared by the device are grey. The particles were approximately cube-shaped with small particle size, and were spherical or spheroidal with larger particle size. Increasing the initial charging voltage can reduce the distribution range of Ni nano-particles size effectively. When the initial charging voltage is greater than 7 kV, Ni nano-particles with average particle size of less than 30 nm and uniform particle size can be obtained.
