Abstract: Medium chrome yellow was modified by stearic acid. The technology and mechanism of the modification of medium chrome yellow by stearic acid was investigated. The results show that the oil adsorption is reduced gradually from 0.22 to 0.15 g/g, and about 30% is reduced. The sedimentation time is increased from 1 to 28 h with increasing of the dosage of stearic acid. The fluidity is not improved. The modified effect is optimal when the mass fraction of stearic acid is 2.5% to 3.5%. The dispersity of the modified medium chrome yellow in dry state is obviously improved. The stearic acid modifies medium chrome yellow through the adsorption of Pb2+in PbCrO4 by the bond of —COO- .
