Abstract:Magnesium hydroxide was prepared by hydrating method using magnesium oxide as the raw materials.The influence of the four kinds magnesiumsalts (MgSO4, Mg (CH3COO) 2, MgCl2andMg (NO3) 2) dosageon hydration rate of magnesium oxide, as well as the influence of ammonium salt and seed on the particle size and morphology of magnesium hydroxide was studied.The characteristic, particles size and morphology of the synthetic magnesium hydroxide were characterized by XRD and SEM.The influential mechanism of the influencing factors was discussed.The results show that the hydration rate of magnesium oxide rises with the increasing of Mg2+ concentration, the maximum hydration rate of magnesium oxide can reach 98.68%.The magnesium hydroxide particles are approximate hexagonal platelet shape and the particle size was about 200 to 500 nm.
