Effect of Mineral Particle Shape on Grinding Performance in Ball Mill

Abstract:To investigate the influencing mechanism of mineral particle shape on ball mill grinding operation,based on discrete element method,the grinding process in ball mill was simulated by the mineral particle model of sphere as well as regular tetrahedron and parallelepiped condensed by spherical particles.The effect of mineral particle shape on movement types,collision forms and grinding efficiency was analysed.The results show that mineral particle shape has a great influence on grinding in ball mill.Under the same conditions,the collision energy of spherical particles is maximal,the second is regular tetragonal particles,the third is parallelepiped particles.
