Modification of Brucite Flame Retardant with Long-chain Nitrogen Containing Borate Ester Coupling Agent

Abstract:The brucite powders were modified by the long-chain nitrogen containing borate ester coupling agent. The unmodified and modified brucite powders were characterized by IR, XRD and SEM.The results indicate that the activation index of modified brucite powders can reach 96.7%. The oil absorptivity is reduced from 1.190 40 to 0.392 90 mL/g after 2 h. The particle polarity of modified brucite is reduced and dispersion of powders is improved. The coupling is attached on the surface of brucite particles.
