Abstract:A new device with a 3-level swirling structure was studied for generating powder-aerosol. To define the aerosol generating efficiency by swirl method, tests and analysis were carried out upon the size distribution of aerosol particles. The influence of several factors on the aerosol generating efficiency, including the parameters of airflow pressure, pulse time,powders filling mass, swirl nozzle structure and so on was studied.The results show that the swirl device can reach quite high pneumatic dispersion efficiency for superfine powders with particle diameter between 1 and 10 μm. The swirl device still can obtain quite high aerosol generating efficiency at much smaller pressure. The aerosol generating effect can be improved by decreasing the powders filling mass properly. When the air inlet angle and exit cone angle are respectively 15 and 45°, the aerosol generating efficiency is the highest.
