Abstract
Through investigating the effect of sodium stearate on the rhgology of pulp composed of w ater and finely ground calcium carbonate (GCC) and change of surface free energy of solid particles because of adsorption of sodium stearate on the surface of GCC as w ell as the effect on ultrafine grinding of GCC in w et stirred mill, the all e-f fects and their extent of grinding aid are studied. It is show n that the effect of grinding aid is the result of comprehensive action of tw o effects, one is the improvement of pulp rheology, the other is adsorption w hich leads to low er surface free energy of solid particles, and the former effect is stronger than the latterone.
