Abstract
The effects of particle size distribution on the particle mean and r.m.s fluctuating velocity profiles were investigated in the dilute regime of a two-dimensional circulating fluidized bed by using a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer(PDPA).Glass beads of three different size distributions but having virtually the same volume mean diameter(~40μm) were used for comparison in the measurements. It was shown that particle mean velocities exhibited no significant differences among the three particle size distributions while particle r.m.s fluctuating velocity profiles were much affected by their size distributions.
