Dust Film Detonation

Abstract

For a dust film detonation different from general detonations, oxidizer is separated from fuel.before its shock front and behind it,a burning dust cloud near the wall is induced due to dust entrainment by the action of shock fronts. The combustion heat of the burning cloud makes the shock wave self - sustaining, forming a dust film detonation.

In this paper, the experimental studies are conducted in a horizontal shock tube with the square cross section 20mm×20mm and the numerical simulations on its two dimensional structure are performed based on the model developed by authors.
