Na₂O in an important qualification for non- metallurgical Al₂O₃. The behaviours of Na₂O in Alumina hydrate during caleination have been studied by means of D/max-3B X-ray diffractometer and IR-440 infrared spectrophotometer in this paper.β—Na₂O·Al₂O₃ is decomposed while the teperature increases.The final mixtrue consists of a—Al₂Og and Na₂O·11Al₂O₃. As Na₂O in Alumina hydrate increases,a—Al₂Osof calcinated productsand specific surface area decreases. The conclusion of the research will be benefit to the process and Al₂O₃ applications.
